Cherie Blair Launches Foundation in Lagos, ….runs a “QUICK HEALTH CHECK” at LiveWell Initiative LWI Health Exhibition Stand…..

Nokia West Africa, in conjunction with the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women and MTN Nigeria on 23rd August, 2012, launched “Business Women”, a new Nokia Life service which will provide essential business and entrepreneurship tips to women entrepreneurs in Nigeria.

The Founder of Cherie Blair Foundation,  Cherie Blair, wife of the former British Prime Minister Tony Blair expressed happiness at a successful launch of her foundation in Nigeria on Thursday 23rd August 2012 at the Civic Centre, Lagos.

She said:  “Giving women the chance to become financially independent and make the most of their talents is the key to higher living standards for them and their families. With the extensive reach of Business Women through Nokia Life and content tailored especially for Nigerian women entrepreneurs, this new service has the potential to empower thousands of women business owners”

The Foundation, which was launched to facilitate business initiatives for women and gender empowerment of the womenfolk, was successfully launched with several technocrats from all walks of life being present including the British Deputy High Commissioner Mr Peter West, Vice President Nokia West and Central Africa James Rutherfoord, Vice President /Global Head Nokia Life Jawahar Kanjilal, CEO of LiveWell Initiative LWI Bisi Bright, CEO of Tony Elumelu Foundation Dr Wiebe Boer, CEO of the Murtala Muhammed Foundation Aisha Muhammed-Oyebode, Corporate Services Executive MTN Nigeria Mr Wale Goodluck, Youth Leader Toyosi Akerele, CEO Efina Modupe Ladipo, among others.

Former British First Lady and Founder, Cherie Blair, visited Livewell Intiative LWI  Exhibition Stand at the Launching Event where she had her basic health screening done; including a routine   blood pressure measurement and stress test, at the LWI health stand. This was followed by a generalized basic health screening for the participants at the event, by LWI Officers.

LWI exhibited its News Bulletins, Flyers, Brochures, Self-Care Series, Health Information Leaflets and the LWI Academy Training Calendars (www.livewellng.org/academy).

Easyhealth , the unique and innovative new mobile health package of LWI, which ensures the delivery of home healthcare services to subscribers under the Stanbic IBTC Mobile Money *909#, was advertised at the LWI Stand. A huge crowd gathered at the LWI Stand for a basic health check up including  blood pressure screening and the stress test as soon as Mrs Cherie Blair departed.
