LWI Partners with UNILAG MCSA Awareness Walk to Stop Domestic Violence

On the 25th of June 2013, the Mass Communication Students’ Association MCSA University of Lagos UNILAG partnered with LiveWell Initiative LWI in an Awareness Walk, themed “An end to domestic violence and child abuse – Nurturing tomorrow’s leaders”.

The overall aim of the MCSA-LWI awareness walk was to involve the Akoka community to collaboratively take an action against domestic violence.

This community awareness and advocacy attracted hundreds of students and members from the Department of Mass Communication as well as LWI staffers and interns.

The awareness walk was circulated around the UNILAG Akoka community and kicked off at the building of the Mass Communication Department with a brief introduction from Ms. Nnedimma Obi, LWI and MCSA member, Folake. Then, following through the UNILAG Back Gate, Onike, Customs, Abule Oja, UNILAG Main Gate and ending back at the Mass Communication Department building.

MCSA-LWI delivered impactful messages to the Akoka community, which will in effect improve the community’s response and increase the public attention of this rampant issue and also empower individuals to make sound, informed decisions and protect themselves against domestic violence.

At the end, participants felt very exhilarated to have completed the awareness walk. Below are pictures of the successful MCSA-LWI awareness walk.
