LWI/Bridgewater Academy Basic Life Support Training for BRT Bus Drivers Aug 22nd 2015

On Saturday, the 22nd of August 2015, The LiveWell Initiative Academy, (LWIA) in collaboration with the BridgeWater Academy (BWA) carried out a training programme on First Aid and CPR with International Red Cross Certification for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) drivers at the BWA corporate office  at No 63, Adekunle Fajuyi Street Ikeja GRA Lagos.

The first lecture was delivered by Dr Femi Erinonso a Public Health Doctor from the LWI Academy Faculty. The scope of the lecture covered areas like administration of First Aid and CPR, Management of emergencies such as choking, drowning burns.

After the lecture, was a practical session where the participants who carried out  demonstration on how to put a patient in a “recovery position” and how to administer the “Heimlich Manoeuvre” for choking patients and Bandaging Techniques. The participants then paired themselves and carried out the procedures on each other.

There was a written examination and successful candidates were presented their certificates.

The “Bus Men” were grateful to LWI and promised to implement what they have learnt in the course of their work.
