Grand Health Bazaar GHB 2015 Day 1 (FMCG Day) June 30th 2015

LWI Grand Health Bazaar (GHB) 2015 the 3-day Annual Multi-sectoral International Healthcare ‘Exposition, Plenaries and HealthFair took place from the 30th of June to the 2nd of July2015 at Grace Gardens Events Centre Bisola Durosinmi Etti Drive Lekki Phase 1, Lekki Lagos,. This year’s event themed “Social Investment as a Corporate Sustainability Tool in Emerging Economics”. GHB2015 was packaged to n the  bridge the gap between corporate sectors, industries, academia and the health sector.

The  event focused on various sectors; Day1: Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Day; Day 2: Clean Emission and Environment Day; Day 3: Education and Innovation Day.

GHB2015 DAY 1: FAST MOVING CONSUMER GOODS (FMCG) DAY, TUESDAY JUNE 30TH 2015

The Chief Host Honourable Permanent Secretary Lagos State Health Services Commission, Dr Jemilade Longe, declared the GHB2015 Day 1 event open. During his opening remark, Dr Longe commended LWI for its remarkable achievements and efforts in promoting health and wellness and preventing illness across the Nigerian sectors.

The General Manager Sealy Mattresses Nigeria Limited, Mr Janni Bezuidenhout delivered the first keynote presentation, titled ‘Sleep well, Live well’. Mr Bezuidenhout spoke on the importance of good sleep for healthy living. He further informed the audience of the importance of a posturepedic bed produced by Seal.

The Director General Standards Organization of Nigeria SON Dr Joseph Odumodu, who was ably represented by his Special Advisor Mrs Cynthia Ifeagwu during her keynote address, highlighted that consumerism has been and will continue to be critical in the growth of Nigeria’s economy and as such standards and quality management in our everyday life must be taken seriously as individuals and corporate entities.

The plenary session took place thereafter, which involved different seasoned speakers discussing the GHB2015 Day 1sub-theme on FMCG Day,‘Consumerism as a Growth Determinant in Emerging World Economies’. The CEO Nielsen West Africa Mr Lampe Omoyele led the plenary session, joined by SA SON Mrs Cynthia Ifeagwu, Executive Secretary Pharmaceutical Industry Practitioners of Nigeria PIPAN Dr Ade Adeagbo, Head FMCG Commodities and Telecoms Transactional Products and Services Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc Mr Seun Ogundolapo and President Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce NACC Chief Olabintan Famutimi. The thrust of the plenary discussion centered on how consumerism has generated economic growth within the Nigerian economic environment driven by the emerging middle class.
