GHB2015 was built of the successes of past GHB events: GHB2014, GHB2013, GHB2012 & GHB2011 which were all held in Victoria Island, Lagos. GHB has always been the organisation’s vehicle for bridging the gap between corporate sectors, industries, and academia and health sector. The CEO LiveWell Initiative LWI, conveners of GHB2015 Mrs Bisi Bright, daily gave an insight into the GHB Story while the Operations Managers Nnedimma Obi and Ibukun Badejo, daily reiterated the organisation’s ‘Success Story’ to the attending audiences.
Thematic Plenary Sessions were introduced daily at the 3-day GHB2015 event, led by Keynote Speakers and escalated into Plenaries ably led by Plenary Session Chairmen and Seasoned Discussants.

The Plenaries went on as follows:
Day1: June 30th 2015: FAST MOVING CONSUMER GOODS DAY: ‘Consumerism as a Growth Determinant in Emerging World Economies’ at which the CEO Nielsen West Africa Mr Lampe Omoyele led the Plenaries composed of seasoned discussants – Mrs Cynthia Ifeagwu Director of Standards Organisation of Nigeria, Dr Ade Adeagbo Executive Secretary of PIPAN (Pharmaceutical Industry Practitioners of Nigeria), and Chief Bintan Famutimi, President Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce. The event was declared open by the Lagos State Government represented by the Permanent Secretary Health Services Commission, Dr Jemilade Longe.

The Chief Event Partners, Sealy Mouka Belimi, makers of the popular Sealy bed on which President Obama sleeps, declared through General Manager Sealy Mr Janni Bezuidenhout, that people should ‘Sleep Well,…and Live Well’. The thrust of this discussion centered on how consumerism has generated economic growth within the Nigerian economic environment driven by the middle class.

However, the performance of the health sector vis-à-vis this positive performance is not encouraging as the indicators do not look well. According to Dr Adeagbo. the new trend is shifting from consumerism to ‘pro-sumerism’ which is the active involvement and participation of the consumer in the production process.

The plenary concluded by canvassing for the education of the whole population as currently, only 30% of the Nigerian population drive Nigeria’s yearly growth rate of 5%.
An extensive tour of the exhibition floor took place thereafter, with a lot of buying and selling, trade and commerce.
