First Aid/CPR and Basic Life Support Training for Ambulance Drivers of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), November 3rd-5th 2014

The ambulance drivers of the Nigeria Ports Authority NPA Clinics across the country recently participated in a Training on First Aid/CPR and Basic Life Support facilitated by the LiveWell Initiative LWI Academy from November 3rd to 5th 2014 at the Compass Place, Isheri, Ogun State.

This programme was designed to train the ambulance drivers on coping with accidents and emergencies on the course of their duties and to learn soft skills which will make them standout among their contemporaries.

The scope of the training covered areas like administration of First Aid and CPR, management of emergencies such as choking, drowning, burns, workplace health and safety, basic and advanced communication kills. There was also a lecture on Fire Emergencies and its Prevention by an official from the Federal Fire Service.

After each lecture, there was a practical session where the participants carried out demonstrations on the Heimlich maneuver,Recovery Position,  Bandaging Techniques and “How to use a Fire Extinguisher”.

The drivers wrote an examination on the final day of the training programme and were presented certificates.

The programme was very impactful judging from feedback from the participants
